The children had a great day at Lydiard Park, a beautiful historic estate on the western edge of Swindon, with the Palladian House, church and a walled garden. As we have been learning about plants this term we had arranged a workshop with one of the team. We first explored different types of trees, looking at their differences, different textures of bark and leaves. We then enjoyed a scavenger hunt in the woods looking for a variety of leaves, a bendy stick, a feather, something colourful, a seed head, an empty seed case.
We visited the stunning Georgian ornamental fruit and flower walled garden with amazing displays of flowers, fruit trees and topiary. We were all given some card with a sticky strip so we could stick any colourful flowers, petals or leaves on. They all looked lovely with all the different greens, pinks and purples on.
Finally just before we had to leave we had time to have a play in the adventure playground. We all had a fantastic day.
